One way to foster professional networking, collaboration and share knowledge and ideas for national progress and development is by convening experts and professionals during a conference.

About SGCG

Geophysics plays a major role in harnessing natural resources from the subsurface. From the surface of the earth, we can see what is on the subsurface of the earth and this is very key in the success of exploration.

Society of Geophysicists and Computational Geoscientists (SGCG) is a professional society comprising geophysicists, computational geoscientists, and interdisciplinary researchers who are committed to advancing geophysical exploration, environmental sustainability, and computational modelling. We are entwined practitioners of Geophysics, Physics, Geology, Computer Science, Geospatial Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, Statistics, Geoinformatics, etc, proffering innovative solutions to global problems.

Vision

"To be a reputable geophysical society that supports Nigeria and the global community with state-of-the-art geophysical and computational innovations and applications arising from the continent of Africa."

Mission

"To advance sustainable development through geo-resources exploration, support and inspire the global community in advancing geophysical and robotics/computational innovations as critical elements of wealth creation in a digital economic world."

Societal Engagements

We intend to have presence and impacts all over Nigeria, West Africa and beyond; guiding our young, aspiring professionals in schools; organizing state-of-the-art international conferences and exhibitions; publishing reputable research outcomes via our journal types and domains for dissemination of the acquired knowledge and technology.

We are also working on establishing the SGCG Foundation, a charitable arm dedicated to supporting scholars and students from diverse backgrounds, enabling them to seek and maintain careers in the geophysical sciences and allied disciplines. We seek to mentor students in tertiary institutions and offer scholarships where necessary.

We seek to enhance support for the geophysical community, support for science and technological innovations and expect more resources to be discovered in the Nigerian reserves, and globally, including oil and gas, solid minerals, sustainable energy resources, etc, which will help in diversifying the economy and guaranteeing a robust economy.

I therefore invite you all as individuals, corporate bodies, government agencies, etc, to join us in this effort to make the profession a worthwhile adventure for everyone and to make the world a global haven of prosperity and abundance.

Thank you for your attention.
